The transcontinental railroad
was one of the most important structures created in U.S history. The Transcontinental
connected the East to the West. The railroad created a faster and more
comfortable way to travel. There were 2
companies who paved the way for this amazing accomplishment. The Central
Pacific who laid their tracks across the Sierras to create a northern route to
the west and the Union Pacific who mad a southern route to the west going
through deserts. The government had great interest in these two companies’ projects
and decided to help them develop their railroads. The government provided money
for the companies to help them build. The government paid them per mile of
railroad which made the workers work harder and faster to get the railroad
done. These two companies created an amazing accomplishment and the U.S.
government played a big role in their success.
