Expected Expansion Doesn’t Happen

After the transcontinental railroad was built expected expansion didn’t happen immediately. I think this happened because of the harsh weather conditions and dangers that the train passed through. The people may have felt unsafe about riding on this form of transportation. They also already had a form of transportation on boats that they were comfortable and familiar with. These are some reasons why the railroad being constructed didn’t create a instant expansion that America thought it would
